My P150 aka SOLO 1.5 White

Post by Mari0-Br0s » Fri May 31, 2013 6:16 am

UPDATE May 28th, 2014: I have updated the gear listed and added a couple of shots of the exterior now that I have a Lian-Li 3-bay 5.25" 120mm fan. I've also added pictures of my whole setup with the white peripherals.

--------

I got this Antec P150 back in 2006 to "upgrade" from a P180 SPCR Black Limited Edition that was taking too much space. I since have upgraded many times my internal components, but always kept this beautiful white case. Originally I was running an 4400+, then a E8400, then a Q9650 and now I'm with a 3570K.

While I was running an LGA775, I modded my case to make it more like the SOLO II. I call my P150 a SOLO 1.5, because I do not have the top fan (I couldn't care less anyway, top = more noise) and I do not have the USB3.0 at the front panel. I modded the backplate of the motherboard back when I had an LGA775.

I have highlighted in blue what makes this computer quiter than my laptop.

Here's the spec of this sexy beast. His name is R2-D2. :)

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K OC @ 4GHz
CPU cooler: Thermalright Utra-120 Extreme
CPU Bolt-thru kit: Thermalright Venomous X
CPU fan: Nexus D12SL-12

SSD: Intel 520 series 240GB SATA3
SSD mounting bracket & front fan: Lian-Li EX-36A1
Fan in Lian-Li bracket: Nexus D12SL-12
Caching SSD: Intel 310 series 40GB mSATA
Wifi: Intel Advanced-N Centrino 6235 Wifi+Bluetooth
Wifi antennas with magnet: ASUS 13G010071000
HotSwap 2.5" PCI-slot tray: Startech S25SLOTR
Optical drive: LiteOn Blu-Ray combo drive
PSU: Seasonic M12D 850W
CASE: Antec P150
CASE fans: 2x Nexus D12SL-12, 1 @ exhaust, 1 @ intake
Dampening material from FrozenCPU installed on the side panels, bottom and top of the case.

Since I'm all into white computing, because we all know white computer are less dirty, I matched all my gear over time. Here's the list of my white devices that fits with my P150.

2nd monitor: NEC MultiSync LCD2070WNX
Keyboard: Logitech K750
Mouse: Logitech MX600

You are saying it's white but you are not showing pictures of the outside of the case... No matter what, all dust is grey and your case is going to end up grey, just like the much faster black cases.

Hahaha, well, everybody knows how the P150 looks like. I havn't taken any exterior pictures because it's no different than a stock P150 from the exterior. :P

I don't agree with you about the dust. I can't barely see the dust on my P150, I see it only if I touch the top of it of pass a swiffer over it. Same goes from my silver PS3 that I imported from Japan, can't see the dust (yeah, i'm a lazy guy, if you don'T see it, don't remove it, that is my way for cleaning dust!)

The case I had before the P150 was the P180 Black SPCR Limited Edition, and the top was always full of dust that you could see to the eye, it was a pain cleaning it everything 2 days or so.
