Noctua Adobe Workstation build

My old thread for help

I SOLD my 7950 during the litecoin boom and made some extra cash. I decided to make my system quieter instead of getting a better GPU. Since all AMD card prices skyrocketed I had to go for NVIDIA, I bought the quietest 760 in the market which is the MSI 760. I bought the cheapest Noctua heatsink and quietest Noctua 2x 140mm and 1x 120mm. My system is barely audible now, just a really light whisper of air getting sucked up in my case!

Here is my updated part list:

CPU: Intel Core i7-4770
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U9B SE2 CPU Cooler
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H87M-D3H
Memory: Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB DDR3-1866
Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 760 2GB
Case: Corsair 350D Case
Case Fan: Noctua NF-A14 ULN 140mm Fan
Case Fan: Noctua NF-A14 ULN 140mm Fan
Case Fan: Noctua NF-S12A ULN 120mm Fan
Power Supply: SeaSonic G 550W
Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer

Grats on the build, seem pretty solid components. Enjoy.

Btw have you stressed your 4770 with prime95? just wondering what temps you get on load?

Thank you Abula. Unfortunately I haven't tested my 4770 with prime95. The highest max load temp I've seen it go up to is around 65C with ULNA Noctua adapters and around 59C without the Noctua ULNA adapters.

Nice, clean build.

Congrats

Are you happy with GPU noise on idle? I know every reviewer praises this card (MSI) for being inaudible, but I find it loudest part in my system.

Great clean rig!

Thanks axee. The GPU is inaudible in idle and really quiet on load so you could say I'm quite happy with the GPU. :) I'm also running the stock fan speeds, it runs 990rpm on idle while staying around 23c. If you're not getting these results then maybe you have a defective card IMO. These by far the best GPU I ever own in terms of quietness.

How fast are your other fans? They might mask GPU idle noise. Together with 300 RPM case fans, it certainly is loudest part in my system.

It's not "bad fan" noise, but fast air woosh, based on high fan speed.

2x 140mm @ 650rpm
1x 120mm @ 600rpm
1x 80mm @ 1000rpm

I guess that makes sense considering you're running the fans at 300 rpm, your GPU will certainly be the noisiest component @1000rpm. My computer is also seating under my desk so that probably helps on some noise reduction.

Yes, as I expected. I guess my expectations were a bit high. Thank you for your reply!
