Normal or Big shuriken for The Sugo SG06?
Hello everybody, I need your advice on the config I'm going to buy.
It is composed as follows:
CPU E5200 (to be Overclocked)
Zotac-9300
-Shuriken (normal or Big)
-Sugo SG06
Questions:
1) I know that the Big Shuriken is larger than the previous version. Is this a problem for the SG06?
2) If a shuriken is preferable to the normal size, is there less noise, less
performance or lower quality?
Thank you in advance for your comments

Well, there are people (and from the posts I have found it's more than one) that use the Big Shuriken with the Zotac and SG05/06. And they seem to have no problem with the bit of pressure applied to the cooler. But I can also understand that people don't like that.Wayne Redpath wrote:!OOPS!
I assumed from your post that the Big Shuriken would fit.
I wonder if the airflow generated by the fan turned upside down on the Shuriken (both normal and big) will allow for safe operation after turning off the PSU fan... maybe some kind of duct will be needed?

Overclocking
Don't be too optimistic about overclocking potential. The distribution channel of "Retail Boxed" for tiny OEM's seems to get the "cast offs". What I mean is that our products all seem to use the maximum voltage for the CPU family and all speeds make a similar heat output as the fastest speed rated variant of the family.
What's 10% anyway???

re: "the bit of pressure"
This "bit of pressure" could cause weird vibrations and/or poor CPU temps because of the heat sink being tilted off the CPU.
re: "the fan turned upside"
I've found that the CPU can run 3' hotter and 3 dB quieter with a less annoying noise character with the fan blowing upwards. However in your potential configuration I would be more concerned with the PS fan robbing air from the CPU fan if they are blowing in opposition and possibly weird tonal affects on top of the obtrusive noise of the PS fan.
re: "safe operation after turning off the PSU fan"
If the only air flow exit is through the PS then there will probably be adequate cooling for the PS.
Have fun...

No problem:fablog wrote:Gundy could you give me the adress of the website you saw the same configuration functioning? I would like to know how they manage the problem and if we are talking about a significant problem (vibration...etc). Thank you.

It's the fins that stick out, not the heatpipes. I have seen it mounted with the heatpipes towards the side, but then they extend 19mm over the edge of the Zotac. See this post: viewtopic.php?p=479830KyonCoraeL wrote:Is it possible to bend the heatpipes so that your heatsink doesn't interfere with case?
The fins stick out roughly 1mm over the edge of the case, don't think one can do much about it.
