Questions about Antec SLK3000B (edit: 1 added)

Post by Bruce Ballslap » Wed Oct 26, 2005 11:26 am

I'm thinking of buying one. My two main problems concern the front door and side vents.

- What is the best way of sealing the side vents from letting noise come through? Simple cardboard&tape will not do. And I wouldnt like to start welding.

- Do they sell replaceable side panels without any holes?

- Is the door detachable?

EDIT:

- What is the inside width and height (floor to floppy cage bottom) at the 3,5" hdd-cage's space?

PS. Joku Suomesta valmis luopumaan kyseisestä kotelosta? Ota yhteyttä.

Some people have reported that they can use the side panel from the 3700BQE to replace the 3000B side panel.

The side panel is completely removable but i'm not too sure if it is possible to substitute the 3700BQE panel for it or not. I know that Antec sells replacement parts and a list can be found on their website, so I suppose you could replace the door if you could find one.

I was just thinking if covering the hole up with black electrical take from the outside (aesthetics) and then using some acoustic dampening and acoustic barrier foam from McMaster Carr on the inside of the door. Haven't gotten around to it though.

~best of luck to you

Thank you snowman59. I'm not sure if you understood my question entirely as I was also inquiring about the FRONT door.

Can you detach the front door without breaking it?

the front door is entirely detachable...you need to be a little careful when removing it but it does come off entirely...i'd show you but my digicam is broken. I never really liked the front door so I removed mine. HTH...let me know if you have anymore questions.

I can confirm the 3700 BQE side door works. My friend and I swapped :).

I will have a worklog up shortly of my silent rig.
