Differences between D8000 and SLK3700?

Are there any differences between the two other than front bezel and the SLK3700 coming with a PSU?

It seems that the SLK3700 is a D8000 which comes with only one fan and a PSU for an extra $30 or so. Are they the same basic case (I.E. HDD grommets, easily removable fan mounts to attatch fans with screws or grommets, basically entire interior the same)?

Also, are the fans included with the D8000 quiet enough at 6V or lower, or should panaflos or some other silent 120mm be bought?

More questions as I recollect them

The two cases are absolutely identical except for the bezels and PSUs. The D8000 is probably a better deal if you're going to use your own PSU or don't like the door or color of the SLK3700. My preference is for the 3700 though. I like the door because it keeps things a little quieter and I took out the Antec PSU and sold it for $35. I ended up with the 3700 for $40 after I sold the PSU.

I don't know about the D8000 case fans, sorry. Here's what the Coolcases website says about the fans that are included with the D8000:

Where did you find the 3700 for $75 shipped?

And where did you manage to sell the PSU for $35?

I would prefer the 3700 as well, but I can't find it for under $85 or so shipped and doubt I could sell the PSU for that much

well, 1 differance i think there is (think) is that there is more space between the hd cage of the 3700 than the d800. since me and ralf can fit the 38mm wide panaflo in there (us having 3700's), but katana man cant(D8000).
of course, if u still wanted the D8000 with a 38mm think panaflo, u could cut off the front of the hdd cage (since the hdd doesnt go all the way to the front of the cage anyways). im doing this anyways, because the grommets that i baught are thick (and im too cheap to buy new ones for 2 dollars, also cutting is fun :) )

P.S i got a new dremel today, so i cut out my fan grills and such :)

Well, I already ordered the D8000, and the only ones available for $70 that I saw were some bronze-ish color which does not appeal to me. Anyway, the D8000 comes with two fans that are 34dBA at loudest and are variable speed so I imagine that they run quiet when idle

I will see when I get it

There is absolutely no difference between the D8000 and the SLK3700 drive cage position. I don't know why Katanaman couldn't get the fan to fit. Maybe he was trying to use the plastic fan holder or mount it with some of those elastomer dampers?

Yes, they are based on the same case. The Antec SLK3700, D8000, and Macase GALAXY II are all based on the CompuCase LX-6A19.

I might have been able to mount the 120mmx38mm fan up front, but if you read my D8000 quiet case project review, you would see that I did not and WILL not ever hard mount a fan again. If you ever heard what a difference E.A.R. fan isolators can have, you'd never screw a fan directly on to the case again. I didn't want the 120mmx38mm touching anything but the fan isolators.

When I mounted the 120mm x 38mm L1A in the front of my SLK3700 I used O-rings on both sides of the case wall and slightly longer self-tapping srcews to hold the fan onto the O-rings. It went:

Screw+O-ring+case wall+O-ring+fan

It fit with about .070" clearance between the fan and the cage. There's a little pocket on the case wall that allows the O-ring to sit down inside of it, that helps with the clearance a bit.
