Scythe scorc Orochi in Antec mini p180?
Does anyone know if the Scythe scorc Orochi cpu cooler will fit in the Antec Mini p180 case? If yes, are there any particular Intel G45 mATX motherboards you folks recommend for this task?
Whilst I reckon the Orochi would fit, I think there are way better passive\low flow coolers out there. To name a few;
Thermalright Hr01+
Any of Noctua's range.
The legendary Ninja or Ninja2
Unfortunately the Orpchi just doesnt live up to expectations perfprmance wise, the mounting hardware is horrible, and it is way too expensive.
I still want one because it looks sweet though. Shallow I know.
Thermalright Hr01+

When I had one, the Ninja used pushpins to mount to Intel's socket (775). It worked OK, but it popped off while the computer was on, so I returned it for a thermalright.
I have two Orochi's, and they work very well passively. I also have a thermalright tower (IIRC 120 Extreme), and it also works well. I believe benchmarks were showing that the Thermalright works better with any fan, though the Orochi works slightly better when completely passive, which is why I went with the Orochi's later on. I haven't tried a Noctua, though I've had some of their quiet fans.

Thanks for your insight Yukon. Given that the Antec Mini P180 has a huge 200mm fan, I'm thinking of using the Orochi passively since it has 120mm and 200mm fans very close to it. The big question is if it will be able to handle a Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 (3ghz) cpu overclocked to 3.6Ghz and still be stable...

If the Orochi will enable me to overclock an Intel C2D e8400 (3.0ghz) to 3.6Ghz, then I want to use it. It looks like it fits good too:
