Hello, everyone!

I have a question on behalf of a friend of mine, using CM's 690II. Theyr'e a little loud for his tastes, and i was wondering if those fans will start at 5V if i do a 5V rewiring trick? They're molex, as far as I can tell.

Alternatively, I also thought about a 7V trick. However, we have no peripherals requiring molex fans to feed the extra 5V of juice into. (Does that even matter?)

Thanks, everyone!

Regards

I haven't tried but since the fans go at 1200 RPM at 12V there should be a fair chance of them starting at 5V. Unless someone else has tried it I'd say it's worth a shot. As long as the fan connector supplies 5V, that's all that matters as far as the fan is concerned. In the past I've encountered powersupplies that refuse operating with the "7V trick" and would generally try to avoid using it nowadays.
