Well, I didn't get any response from Fractal in time to do the work, but just in case anyone else has the old screws or runs into my problem, here's what worked for me.
Get 2x 7/8" long #4 sheet metal screws (as coarsely threaded as you can get with #4 with a point). If your hardware store (like mine) only has 1" screws, you can take a set of needle-nose pliers and clip the pointy end off, then file the tip down to a blunt-point to make the screw start in the hole easier. With the header fully tightened, I could just see pressure marks on the other side of the plastic front from the screw sockets, so I guess I was a little more than 7/8". Hope this helps anyone else in the same spot.
