Hi,

I am seartching for a quiet case out of the box. The hardware to be used is light as follows :

- Intel I7 (stock fan)
- WD Green disk
- SSD on PCI-E
- Not Graphic card(let the I7 handle that)

The Lian Li PC-V354 have nice db values here : http://www.silentpcreview.com/article1153-page7.html but this computer will be placed on the flooe so a midi tower is preferable.

The Cooler Master Silencio 550 Quiet(http://www.silentpcreview.com/article1210-page8.html) seems to be a great deal? SilverStone Temjin TJ08-E (http://www.silentpcreview.com/article1215-page8.html) but there is no top buttons.

Any recommendations? Or should I go with the Lian Li?

Why not the Fractal Design Define R3, Antec Solo II, NZXT H2 or mATX cases such as Fractal Design Define Mini or Silverstone TJ-08E?

Fractal Design Define R3 do deliver more db out of the box according to this : http://www.silentpcreview.com/article1192-page4.html.

If I compare it with SOLO II its a bout 4-5 db witch should be noticable. The Fractal Design Define Mini is not bad, I have missed it but I dont know how it performace.

An important note here is that Fractal Design do have two fans and the SOLO II got only one. I Supose that you could disconnect on of the fans in Factal Design case but would that deliver as good db as SOLO II?

TJ-08E is according to this (http://www.silentpcreview.com/article1210-page8.html) not really as good as the others mentioned.

If you intend to use the stock fan of the i7, then that noise will easily be the noisiest part of your system. Have you considered buying an aftermarket cooler?

Combined dBa of two fans at 5 V (included fan controller can go as low as 4 V): 13 dBa

Antec Solo II with one fan at low speed: 12 dBa.

I doubt that you'd notice the difference. The Antec Solo II has the advantage of the suspension of HDD's.

NZXT H2 is not quiet enough out of the box IMO. Also, the hard drive bay is absolute rubbish.

If you don't use any video card, then one exhaust fan should be enough.

If the stock cooler is noisy, even you get the best case won't help a lot. but if you switch to other aftermarket cooler, the noise level would be much lower if you get a random case.

I personally think the concept of a "quiet" case is antiquated. Get a case the meets you needs and don't look to the case to provide you with the quiet you are seeking.

Get a good aftermarket CPU cooler and a good PSU and you will not have any noise that needs to be muffled. That once was not an option, but it is today. See:

I would add the Lian Li A04 and A05 cases to the list of cases to consider. They are low cost, sturdy and well constructed, and being made of aluminum are amazingly light.
