Antec P183 - Warning about cheap plastic tabs.

Post by TyGuy » Wed Mar 28, 2012 9:27 pm

So I just got all my parts for the new silent workstation I'm making. I was taking the front panel off the P183 to tinsnip the front fan grill out and i hear this snap as it comes off. Anyway, all the tabs holding the front panel on broke off. Looking at the inside I see that it is held on with 2 thin little flimsy plastic tabs. What a terrible design decision. For the cost of this case and the build quality of the rest they didn't think to put something more sturdy holding it on?

The case is useless now and I ordered another one. It's my own fault but still I just wanted to warn anyone buying this case to be very careful when you remove the front panel.

Cheers.

How was it your fault? Isn't the front panel supposed to easily removable?

He was talking about the front fan grill/door, not the front panel.

This is interesting because the front fan grill is already pretty open on a P183. I'm not sure why you need to cut it to be any more open.

The P182, on the other hand, is a different story.

Could you not have called Antec for a warranty replacement? They are usually very good with that.
