Silverstone GD05

Post by midiman » Sat May 05, 2012 6:09 am

Just picked this up for a new build. Two questions:
- should the fans on both sides be pointed to push air out of the case?
- should I replace the fans? I have three Zalman fanmates.

System will be in a closed Salamander Twin cabinet with the back open -will have an xbox360, ps3, and comcast box - not alot of air gets in there:

Silverstone GD05
Kingwin 650w Lazer
Gigabyte Z77mx
Core i5 3570
Scythe Big Shuriken 2 Rev B
8GB Samsung 30nm
Samsung 1TB, Samsung 2TB, Seagate 3TB 7200, OCZ Vertex 60GB, OCZ Vertex3 120GB
No optical

Silverstone fans are pretty good, I'd keep them unless they're abnormally loud and then find a solution to that problem. As for intake/exhaust setup definitely use 2 fans in and 1 fan out.

The default is all pointing in. I would think it would make more sense to have the two fans closest to the CPU pulling air out - no?

Should the Scythe Ninja's fan be pointed down or up?

Got one:
Gigabyte G41
Intel e7200@1v, Scythe Ninja mini (passive)
2Gb Ram
ATI 4350
WD 10EADS (sys, torrent), 15EARS+20EARS (data)
Silverstone Grandia 05 (2xScythe slip stream @600 rpm)
Enhance ATX-0255GA (550W, Scythe S-flex @600rpm)

In my setup 2 Scythe SlipStream pulls air out. Rear and top vents are blocked. Temps are lower then 2 fans @ intake, especially hdd temps
