Need feedback : Define Mini or Temjin TJ08-E ?
Hi everyone,
I want to build a very silent NAS. I have a fanless motherboard (ASUS AT3IONT), 3 HDD for storage and a CF card for system.
Now I have to choose a small case, but I hesitate between : Fractal Define Mini and Temjin TJ086E (or maybe another one)
The TJ08 seems good but I read that the front fan is not very quiet. Is it safe to turn it off or does an alternative exists ?
The fractal looks great about noise, but it is huge compared to the TJ08.
Any advice / feedback / propostion ?
thanks !

Since you're using a mini-ITX board, why not go for a mini-ITX cases with room for your three harddrives?
Lian Li PC-Q08
Lian LI PC-Q18
Fractal Design Node 304
Cooler Master Elite 120 Advanced
Bitfenix Prodigy (though this case is a bit big for a mini-ITX cases.)
If you don't want an ITX case but prefer a mATX case than also consider the Silverstone Precision PS07. It's the same as the Temjin TJ08-E, only cheaper, has two 120 mm fans instead of the 180 mm fan, and the thermal performance is worse. But that won't be a problem for you setup.

Why does noise matter? Can't you put it into a place where you won't hear it?
What about this Sharkoon? It's cheap and not that big.

The node 304 looks good but is not yet available but i should wait to read some review about it!
For the last two, i have some doubt about their quiet capabilities...

That's the point.Olaf van der Spek wrote:Why does noise matter? Can't you put it into a place where you won't hear it?

The Sharkoon MS120 (and MS140) are variants of the Fractal Design Core 1000.
Re: Need feedback : Define Mini or Temjin TJ08-E ?
And the fractal is a clone of the Aerocool QS200.lodestar wrote:The Sharkoon MS120 (and MS140) are variants of the Fractal Design Core 1000.
If you want your hdds suspendend, you'll need a bigger case. And running 3 unsuspended hdds without noticeable vibrations will be a challenge for most cases.
