I like the specs in the SPCR reviews of both the Nexus Value 430 PSU and the unusual Silverstone Temjin TJ08-E, but will they work together?

The SPCR Temjin review says

The power supply mounts to the top of the case upside down. If it has a 120 mm fan, it draws air from the top.

while the 430 expects to draw air from the top and exhaust out the back.

At first glance it seems an ideal match, and the 430 is shorter than normal so it frees up room for an optical drive in the tight Temjin.
Am I right in drawing those conclusions? Or am I wrong?

Is the Nexus Value even in stock anywhere anymore?

This is an ancient PSU. SPCR reviewed it very late. I remember a friend of mine used it in a build around 2003 or 2004.

Contemporary alternatives would be the Seasonic G-Series or the Superflow Golden Greens.

If you think about it, the Value 430 really did represent value like few others. And it's actually quite revealing, how little has happened in the PSU-space in 10 years and yet how stable prices have remained. They're selling us ancient technology at what must be tremendous profit margins.

Can I assume you think the Value 430 will fit well and work in the Temjin? I am not familiar with top input fans and upside down placements.

It seems the Seasonic G360 might also be a reasonable alternative. I am impressed by the SPCR review and forum comments. My intended use aims for the sweet spot of power and noise mentioned in Mike Chin's review.
It looks like the Super Flower Golden Green 350W PSU is both not available and not as vetted here.

Although Newegg says out-of-stock and discontinued the Value 430 is still listed at the Nexus website and it is for sale at

The Nexus will work just as well as any other 120mm fan PSU. Placing them upside down doesn't matter at all.

Seeing as Amazon also has a sale on the Seasonic G-Series I'd still recommend this one. Just for being newer and 80 Plus Gold certified.
