Replacing a PaQ custom build case. Recommendations please

Post by mfx » Fri Dec 20, 2013 2:33 pm

Hi currently my PaQ custom build case is getting a bit worse for ware. Sidepanel not staying on and outgrown it to be honest.

Need some recommendations on a new case to accommodate below. One preference would be for slot in mounts for the hard dries if possible/caddy mounts.

Price around £100 ($150 approx).

Don't want water cool, doesnt sit with me well water in a system but I may be convinced. Just seems watercool is additional matinenance, no?

So please recommendations are much appreciate. Silence is nice but absolute is not a must.

Xigmatek S1284, 2 x 1000rpm 140mm fans, inc PWM-DC converter.
1 x dvd drive which I may omit.

Been looking at the Nanoxia, first look appears nice but open minded.

Many thanks

I like more Fractal Design Define R4, but Nanoxia is fine also if you like it more or fits better your budget.

The fractal came up in another thread and I'd never heard of them till looking. Build quality is one concern, but I dont want to get too hell bent on all the details.

Shortlist so far : Fractal R4, Nanoxia DP1 (or 2 pending on price), Corsair 650. Someone mention 750 but I dont thinkI need a full tower tbh - way too big.

One consideration is a 19" rack mountable case (as I have other kit in a rack mount frame) but I am stuck on choice unless anyone has good suggestions?

(As a sidenote it always seems illogical to me in design of having a cooler fan mounted on a cpu at 90 degrees to the perpendicular. But everyone seems to survive :) )
