looking for a silent ~20 litre case for mATX
Hi!
First post for me though I've been reading (and enjoying) articles and posts here for quite sometime.
I am about to build a new PC, which I want to make as quiet as I possibly can (I am currently working on a piece of s**t that sounds like I'm flying in a 747 and I can't stand this noise pollution anymore). My needs can basically be addressed with a mini-ITX case, both because of esthetics (the PC will stand on the desk in the living room) but also because I am not playing games and I don't need special cooling / GPU, so cases like the Lian Li PC-Q08 can be perfect for me (it can house enough HDDs and SDDs + normal size optical drive). I even found a noise dampening kit for it here http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu ... =CA-124-OP .
My only problem is that I really need esata on the mobo and I can't find any decent mini-ITX board that has one (in either 1155 or 1150 sockets), plus I want it to support 12 USB devices (2 and 3). mATX boards provide all this, but I can't find a small enough case (preferably shoe-box shape) that also seems to meet my noise (lack of...) expectations.
Any suggestions for either a small, quiet mATX case or a suitable mini-ITX with esata will be much appreciated!

I think that the smallest mATX case around is still the venerable Antec NSK3480 (about 24lt): out of the box it isn't quiet, but it can be made such, to the point to be inaudible (so it requires more money and/or some works).

This MSI board has an eSATA port. It also has an onboard wifi card, but I don't know if you are interested in that.

Asrock, Asus, Evga and MSi have mini ITX boards with eSata for socket 1155 and for socket 1150.

Thanks for the links! Got some reading to do but it seems like there is what to choose from after all

or just use a SATA to eSATA Cable with Bracket or similar.

How are you using that many USB devices / ports?kufi wrote:plus I want it to support 12 USB devices (2 and 3).
