Alternatives to Phanteks Shift X?

Enclosures and acoustic damping to help quiet them.

Alternatives to Phanteks Shift X?

Post by xchaotic » Wed Oct 11, 2017 5:12 pm

I am planning a watercooled build with this case:
phanteks.com/Enthoo-Evolv-Shift-X.html

The main aim of the build is silence and I want to achieve it by using a custom loop for GPU and CPU using Phanteks or EKWB components.
The reasons I want to use this particular case:
small footprint on the desk (in spite of overall large volume)
relatively easy to build a watercooling loop (for an ITX build)

But I wanted to check if there's any good alternatives I might have missed.
Bonus points if there is a tiny case (small area on the desk) that can fit an mATX motherboard.

What components are you intending to use? Watercooling isn't generally considered that silent around here due to the added noise of a pump.

Here's the link to the case: http://phanteks.com/Enthoo-Evolv-Shift-X.html

Interesting case - it is a vertically oriented mini-ITX. The grills look to have very small hex openings - they might be fine, but they might be restrictive.

There is really nothing else like it.

I decided to not use it and use the smaller Silverstone Raven air cooled. I was concerned with pump noise. Since I did not plan to overclock this one, I decided air cooled would be fine.

If you want to water cool, I think the Shift-X is the way to go.
