Rattling

Post by naomiwillis » Fri May 18, 2018 11:00 am

I have Fractal Design Define R3 and there's a lot of noise coming from the HDD area, not sure exactly where the source of the noise is coming from, But I've tried to do many things e.g. adding foam to the HD amount but the noise always eventually comes back. Noise goes away when I push in the front panel/sides of the case. Also sometimes if I the bottom magnetic dust filter the noise goes away too? I really don't know where the noise is coming from/how to prevent it and it has really been bothering me. Any of you had the same situation with a same/similar case from Fractal Design?

Welcome to SPCR.

If you can press the side or front of the case and stop noise, it implies a vibration induced noise. Sometimes the front fan assemblies don't stay in place and can lean against the drive cage(s). That can be a ugly noise source.

Thanks Steve! I added a thick foam pad between the front fans and front dust filter and it fixed the problem!
