Fractal Define R6 stock fans

Post by nwrigley » Fri Jun 29, 2018 11:37 am

I do game with my PC, but I use it for a lot of other things as well. My general goal for my next build is that I don't hear it while I'm doing basic tasks. If the fans speed up during a gaming session, that's fine.

From that perspective, I'm looking at the Define R6 case. What I'm curious to hear from owners of this case is if you are pleased with the performance/noise of the stock fans or if you ended up replacing them.

Imo they are decent fans, for the vast mayority of user as long as you dont ramp them too high they are good fans overall. If you have the time, read SPCR Quiet ATX Gamer, R5 Version
The stock R5 fan is at least as quiet as the Antec TrueQuiet 140, which is one of the quietest we've measured. So there's no benefit at all to swapping out the R5 fans. They are as quiet any 140mm fans we've heard.
My suggestions is try them out, setting them on your bios/software and see how it works out for you, you can always upgrade the fans later on.

The Venturi fans from Fractal Design are supposed to be even better than the GP ones. The Venturi are divided into the HP (High Pressure) and HF (High Flow) series. Both come in 120mm and 140mm sizes. The HP series are 4-pin PWM fans, whereas the HF are 3-pin.

They have received generally positive reviews so far:

I tested the R6 fans and to me seems very similar to the R4 fans, not bad, not great either.

I also tested the Venturi HP/HF, they seems fine, but i do prefer the bequiet BL067 and/or Thermalright TY147ASQ, although i still recommend to test the included fans first, we all have different hearings and preferences, so they might work out fine.
