rackmount cases (looking for opinions)

Post by moshen » Mon Sep 15, 2003 9:36 pm

i've been looking at these 2 cases:

for my dual 1600mp DAW that i'm currently working at quieting down.

it looks like i could remove the 5.25" bays to make suspended bays for my hard disks and the 80mm fans w/ mounting brackets could be easily modified/replaced for my silent needs.

any opinions would be greatly appreciated.
this site has been of much help so far. it has provided me with lots of reading material at work.

I own many rackmount cases in various sizes. General rule of thumb: the smaller the fans, the louder they are. If you are looking at a 4U, I suggest any case that has a 120mm fan up front. I have some of these:

Evercase ECR9400B

Maxtop IPC-4032B-AL

Antec 4U22

the thing keeping me away from most of the rackmount models with a 12cm fan was lack of 5.25" bays. most only have 2-3 max.
it looks like even that antec 4U22 requires you to remove the 12cm fan to gain access to the aditional 5.25" bays.
i was thinking about building a seperate machine for my hot-swap drives, but it would probably just add more noise.

thank you for your suggestions :)
