Add IEEE-1394 and audio to front of Coolcases D8000

Enclosures and acoustic damping to help quiet them.

Add IEEE-1394 and audio to front of Coolcases D8000

Post by RTT » Wed Jan 28, 2004 12:03 pm

I got a Coolcases D8000 a few months ago and am quite happy with it. However it came with only the USB ports installed on the front. The holes for the firewire and audio ports were not punched out and their parts on the little PCB were not installed.

It looks like I need:

2 audio cables
1 IEEE-1394 cable
2 audio jacks
1 IEEE-1394 jack
1 capacitor of unknown size/type
2 right angle connector (white things)

Does anyone know where I can get the parts and cables so I can add these ports to my case? Neither Coolcases nor the manufacturer have been any help so I was hoping someone here might be able to lend a hand.

Thanks

Good question and a nice little project. I have no clue but I'll give you a free bump. :)

If you could find a way to source the PCB and parts, I bet you could sell those things like hotcakes. Seems like a fairly common gripe about the SLK3700 is "no front Firewire".

I'll bump this too because I've always had a similar question. I'd like convert the audio cables that come with most cases so that you can plug them into a sound card instead of a motherboard header.

RTT, if your still looking for those parts, i think I have your answer. I recently bought a new case and removed the part in question (the whole board). It's now sittling in a box. It looks a lot like the one in your picture, except with all the stuff you want. Let me know if you want it, I'll give it to you. has all the cables too.
