Hi,
My mobo is a P5N-SLI mobo (
http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=KyHOsOKWujC2QguJ). Right now, I have a 9800GTX+ in my computer doing some folding.
In my spare parts, I have a 8600GT passive GPU that I don't use.
Questions :
Can I put the 8600GT on the mobo as well (no SLI of course) and fold on it too ?
Can I just try and not risk frying my mobo in the process ?
Thanks for your help !!!

I have heard that its possible. Even an AMD with NVIDIA card its possible.
I don't know the details of how to do it, but try sticking in the 8600gt and download another client to a different folder than the other one.

It's definitely possible.
The 8600GT has just 32 shaders so it will be no folding monster, but it should be good for 1500 ppd or so.

Don't do it. Anytime the exact same number is stream processors, or exact multiples all cards will function at full potential. As soon as you have a mismatch 1 card will run much slower.

Thanks to all for your replies.
I guess I'll just not try for now. And I just made a new duct for my 9800GTX+ and I really don't feel like removing it to try
