Gromacs 2107 - disproportionately slow?

Post by StarfishChris » Fri May 19, 2006 2:29 am

I got a 2107 a few days ago and it's stupidly slow - only getting 40PPD and 3 more days to go :( Has anyone else had it yet? Is the processor type affecting the speed?

With my A64 3000+ i got:

Project : 2107
Core : Gromacs
Frames : 100
Credit : 404
Min. Time / Frame : 59mn 36s - 97.61 ppd
Avg. Time / Frame : 1h 01mn 02s - 95.32 ppd

Have you checked if for some reason you didn't have "Extra SSE boost OK." :?:

My load on one of my boxen is
p1487
1161 pts
and (depending how much CnQ I have - usually 99% of the time) will be a dash over 2 weeks to complete (@ 3.2 pts/hour)

But yeah, as per Tibors check your log that all is OK. Another of my boxen had 1 bad shutdown that caused SSE disabled for about 2 weeks until I noticed (and did a routine shutdown/restart).

I haven't looked into what by machines are running at the moment, but I've had 3 days of no results at all  , so I expect some mixture of these kind of proteins. I think (not at home to check) some are the 404's, and some others were unknown by F@H Log Stats. Also my PIII isn't running for now, and the laptop only on at night. Be nice to score a few thousand points in a day though

FWIW, F@H Log Stats hasn't been updating for a while now.:?

I can highly reccommend FAH Monitor & Farm which is available here: http://home.cogeco.ca/~fahmf/

Be aware that this is under constant development... and I have to say the current 2.6.0.7 version has fatal exception errors for some people.

I have an archived copy of the very stable 2.6.0.3 on my webspace that you can download from Here if you so desire. :D

Regards
Pete
