as far as a single PC goes, what would be the top performing config to put together?

is it possible to run multiple GPU clients if you have 2 high end video cards?

Hello,

I would think a quad-core machine would be best, running 64bit Linux! I don't know about two GPU clients -- but one GPU client is not as fast as the SMP client on a dual core machine. The SMP client works on a dual core, but is better on a quad core.

And some of the Intel chips benefit from a larger cache than some AMD's, which can help on some WU's.
