I'm wondering the same. I don't think I have picked up any new cores today though, and I think that's how it will go out, just a core that will download automatically when it picks up a new WU.

New Stanford web page

The Stanford Folding@Home web site has been re-done. It should appear sometime this morning around 10:00 AM CST.

Look for the Easter Egg on the site. Think "Matrix" ... First Episode. Some really new cool science is coming. Stay tuned for more really interesting stuff.

So, can I download it and install it or do I need to finish a WU? I would like to just download it as I am only 24 frames into my new 400 frame WU, even if I lose that work.

It's the official launch of Gromac (and/or the official end of Gromacs beta). (Sorry to spoil it for those still struggling, or who have been churning Gromacs points for weeks!)

I just got a new WU 5 minutes ago, and my log file says:

[16:53:13] + Processing work unit
[16:53:13] Core required: FahCore_78.exe
[16:53:13] Core found.

...and...

[16:53:48] Extra 3DNow boost OK.

which I don't think it's said before. Anyways, my AMD 800 is burning through this baby!

So, I'm a little unclear on this

Post by NeilBlanchard » Mon May 19, 2003 7:26 pm

Hello:

How do we get to use this new Gromacs core? My new WU's today have all been Tinker -- and I'm starting to use the -advmethods switch again, so we'll see how the next WU's go...

Will it work the same for the Linux client? I'm using the FAH3Console-LinuxB.exe in SuSE 8.2 (on this machine) and I also just restarted it with -advmethods. Do we have to do this to get the new Gromacs, and will all the cores be Gromacs in the furure? Or will they still be a mix?

I think that's the idea, look here for more info.

(I started the thread above acutually, I havent got them to change my name yet...)

According to it however they are going to try and flush out all the Tinker projects and replace them with Gromacs with a couple of months.

LOL! Do you people vote "You seem to like useless threads..." for fun?:wink:

Once upon a time, I thought like that...

Good one -- for a while, I was there with ya', but I'm switching back to Gromacs! After all, I've got a position to defend!

Hey! Could some one with the Gromacs core host it on a FTP server for download? Maybe for competitive advantage we could have it password protected only to SilentPCReview F@H team members.

Yes, long live FPU-powerhouse AMD processors! They kick major a$$ in the FPU department though, almost double what the P4s can do.

um, perhaps you're starting to take this a bit too serious in the wrong direction. It's starting to sound like a l33t quake clan in here. :)

leet roughly means cool. Beyond that hacker talk is mostly just replacing letters with numbers and mucking with capitalization ala ReTrOmAn.
Oh. Thanks!

Well, actually in the quakeworld over here it's a common phrase used for folks who play the game just to be on top of the scoreboard.
