We've put up over 10000 points in the past 24 hours!

I know that my score yesterday was quite a bit higher than normal, and it looks like many people have "past 24 hrs" scores that are considerably more than 1/7th of their "past 7 days" scores.

Anyone know what happened? Did a bunch of high-points, fast folding WUs come out yesterday? Any suggestions on how I can get more of those?

Well I can attest that 2 days ago I was processing 13 tinkers and 1 Gromacs WU, now I am processing 13 Gromacs and 1 tinker.

I've been folding for some time now, but I still haven't grasped the concept of gromacs and tinkers. Anyone...?

Gromacs are the newer WU's that use the enhanced SSE instructions for the PII, P4, and Athlon procs. Tinkers don't use as many optimizations, and tend to be slower and many less points/hour.

One interesting thing I found is that the points are calculated by how long it takes a Celeron 400(i think?) to process the WU. So a Celeron doesn't go a gromacs any faster than a tinker, hence the odd scoring system.

Long story short -(too late) Gromacs are better for points, but not more important science-wise.

Just a theory...
My 3-hour stat blocks at extremeoverclocking showed a pretty steady upload of WUs all day. I normally get 3-4 WU/day for 150-200 points, but yesterday I had 6 WU for 290 points. So far today I've done 3 for 142 points.

I had 3 WU for 125 points on Sunday, but I know that one of those was a low-point Tinker. At first I thought I'd just managed to luck into a couple of machines uploading WU shortly after midnight and having time to do another before the end of the day, but lots of people have higher stats for the past 24 hours, so it wasn't just me.

Unfortunately, the Slovenians went yellow, too. They're still closing on us, but not quite as fast as before.

We are YELLOW __ AGAIN!

Wooo Woooo!

We are Yellow again! Our last day was 10,200+ while SloTech was 2,000 points lower... They still have a *slightly* higher total for the past week, but that won't last long if things stays as they are now!

I gotta say that the 3.25 Beta client has helped me out a lot on my Athlon 2100+ (@1.986gHz) -- 50-60 point units are getting done in 18-22 hours rather than the 40-60 hours that some of them took... Sadly, though this won't help my Athlon 700.

I"m not seeing much of a difference between clients.

I'm running a 2500+ at 2.12 ghz.

Only difference in the 3.25 is the _forceasm flag sticks for all WU's, used to only work on the first one since program start
