Hello - I've been lurking on SPCR for a while, and just yesterday registered and posted for the first time. I see you have a F@H team!

I've been folding "casually" for a while, and in just the past week stepped up my efforts. I haven't been in a team, but figure I might as well join one. :) I was considering the [H] team, as I do hang out there quite a bit, but joining the team with the highest production at the moment just seems like no challenge...

So, if you all don't mind, I'm switching my clients over to report that I'm part of the SPCR team. I don't have a huge folding farm, but I do have about 7 boxes working 24/7, with a total of close to 10GHz. My first WU for the SPCR team will likely be done in a couple hours. I fold under the user ID Frank_Condron.

Thanks!

Welcome to the team! I am a newbie to folding. I wish I had started earlier, what a waste of computer time, especially since I am 24/7 on.

SPCR is quietly moving up, it's fun to watch and participate, and best of all it is for a good cause.

Yeah, welcome, FJC. Glad you decided to join the "Quiet" side. Damn. 10G of folding? I'm pushing 3. Maybe. :)

Thanks!

And I had just gotten my new system to what I felt was a pretty quiet level...then started it folding. Now that PSU in my Sonata sounds loud - I'm going to have to look into a fan swap for it. :)

That 200 MHz machine I just added isn't going to help much, is it? :O

I just started folding a few days ago, and have two pretty good (one Athlon 2000+ and on P4 2.4) machines at work, and last night I hooked up an old laptop that's just been sitting on the shelf. It's probably not worth the electricity it draws, but I figured it might as well be doing SOMETHING.

Welcome to the team Frank. (which sounds kinda funny considering I joined up only a couple of days before you did! :) )

David

My slowest machine is a 266Mhz Pentium II...it's been crunching on the same WU since October 30th, and is only 81% done! Definitely not a speed demon compared to the 2+GHz machines. :)

3 WU's submitted for the team so far!

Hello Frank:

Welcome!

If you aren't already, you can get better production from the CLI client (the command line console) and on any machines that have SSE/3DNow!, you should run the v3.25 beta. If you use it with the -advmethods -forceasm, it will keep using full SSE/3DNow! for all work units; not just the first one. After I switched on my fast machine (see my sig), I have improved my weekly output from 350-450 points up to 500-600+ points -- which puts me back in the green zone! :o

Also, be sure to exclude the Folding@Home executable (and Electron Microscope if you are using it...) from antivirus scans.

Could someone email me the CLI 3.25 client? The beta download page at the Stanford site is down.

zyzzyx74 at hotmail dot com

Been using the 3.25 GUI client, but wanna move all my system to running as a service, and might as well use the CLI for that.

It's on its way. I zipped it to save space.

Now you can kick my butt even worse than you already have been!

To speed up the folding! It may not be a big speed increase, but it certainly won't slow it down.

A new beta avaliable.

Thanks. :) Need to uninstall 3.24 prior to installing 3.25? Obviously wait until the end of a WU if so.

Nope, just run the new one after you finish your current work unit.

Frank will hit the Hot 100 Tomorrow already, and could be into the 80's or even 70's by the end of the month.

I won't be catching Frank any time soon, but the rest o' y'alls, look out baby, here I come.

David

Go Chiefs!
