Athlon64 folding

Hmmm, wonder what a recompiled code could do on a Athlon64?

i don't know but i bet it will help, especailly the addition of SSE2 and 64 bit.

so since SSE does 128 bit calcs (4 32 bit peices) i suppose it would calculate 2 64 bit peices.

Not forgetting Athlons are very good at dealing with unoptimized code.

I seem to remember reading on the Folding-Community forums that for the Folding core programs that SSE2 doesn't make any difference over 'plain' SSE.

Now, with a recompiled and 64bit optimized code? Dunno.

I know there's a fellow on the Sharky Forums teamt that has an Athlon64 folding away. Hasn't been too impressed with its performance so far.

well it's definatly not wortht eh price/preformance.

you could build 2 AXP systems for the price fo n A64 system.

I was under the impression that for about $200, p4 2.8 with HT is the best folder for the money currently IMHO.
