Running two different video cards

I don't know if this is possible, but I was wondering it is possible to run Radeon (either an x800 or x1600) card in one slot and a FireGL (v3100) in the other. I want to use this computer for both gaming and CADD. I have read that the FireGL is designed for CADD and 3D programs and that the Radeon cards are designed for gamers and their framerates. I would be running two seperate monitors.

Much thanks in advance for putting up with my noobish question.

In principle there is no reason you should have any problem with this kind of set-up.

From a silent perspective it is even a good idea. A low power card for everyday usage. A gaming card for playing once in a while.

I am doing this myself on a couple of PCs with :
- PC #1 : a good old passive 64Mo PCI Quadro NVS card,
- #2 : a even older 4Mo PCI Matrox Millenium.
Both of them passive and consuming virtually nothing.
And more than enough for anything but gaming.

Note also that if you are a casual CAD/CAM & 3D user the FireGL will probably be quite an overkill.
