Hi guys, i'm new her. I'm looking to upgrade my computer, here is what i have already:

256mb xfx 7900gt with zalman cooler
2x1gb 4-4-4-12 g.skill ddr2 ram
8 hdd. 2 are IDE the rest are sata
2 IDE optical drives

I'm thinking of getting:

e6600 core 2 duo
asus p5w deluxe since it has support for 4 IDE devices.
a ninja cpu cooler
seasonic 700w psu

I need a good case for cooling and quietness. It also needs to house 8 hdd. Any recommendations for case, motherboard and psu?

thanks

Hello & welcome to SPCR,

EIGHT hard drives! That will take a special case, fur shur...the Stacker holds that many, but it is not set up for being quiet, really.

Even with that many HD's, you won't need anything close to a 700watt PS.

I was thinking of something like the Lian Li PC-A10 Aluminum Case. Its got room for 5 hdd in the allocated cages. I could put the remaining 3 in a 2x5.25 sata bay adapter since that case has so many spare.

I'd rip out the fdd converter leaving me room to add a kama bay for extra air input.

The reason for the 700w ps was that i was planning on getting ati's dx10 graphics card when it comes out.

I have to ask; what do you use all of those hard disks for?

The clean reason or the real reason? j/k

I do a bit of video editing and restoration using uncompressed avi files full D1 at times. Been a bit a lazy with authoring recently though. Takes up a fair bit of space.

i have gone for the lian li 201a in silver case.
i have also gone for the corsair 620w psu. Hopefully it should be enough.
