Cooling a Q6600

Post by zax » Sat Jan 05, 2008 2:17 pm

I don't know if this is a newcomer's question but I am a newcomer so here goes:

In a P182 case with a single rear fan, will a fanless Scythe Ninja be sufficient to cool a Q6600 cpu with G0 stepping?

Thanks in advance for taking the time to reply,

Zax

If you already have an exhaust fan, it will for sure. Without any fan in proximity, i don't know.

are you running the top case fan as well? I have the same setup and I was running my q6600 @ 3.4Ghz with a naked Ninja Rev B. I have both tricools on low and it did get hot but not unstable.. So if you're not going to OC it then you'll be fine. my Asus p5k-premium has the CPU very close to those top/rear fans so it's all i need. Good luck.

My intention is to remove the top fan in the P182 (to reduce noise and because it does not seem to increase cooling from spcr articles I have read) and just use the rear fan. I will not be overclocking or gaming. It sounds like a naked Ninja may be ok. Any other thoughts anyone?
