I have an Antec NSK3480 case with an AMD 5000+ that was very quiet until I added a Radeon 4770. This seems to be taxing the Antec 380W PSU which is now noisy all the time. I want to know if the Nexus Value 430 would be enough of a power increase to keep quiet, or do I need to go up to the 530?

Hi, the Nexus 430w PSU will be ample for your system.
I have run my Q9400 & GTX260 system off a 330w Seasonic!

you might also look in to a fan swap for the Antec PSU if don't value the warranty or have another use for it.
I'd suggest using a 2000-2500rpm fan and connecting to the existing fan header / wiring so PSU still has control of fan speed.

Thx. You reminded me that I put a 450w corsair in my backup pc which was too nice for it, so I swapped psu's. Now I can hear the system fan, so will look to replace it. I think my cooler not working right as well, but at least it's quiet.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but is it safe replacing stuff inside a PSUs?

I don't really know much about computer hardware or electronics per se, but was reading that the capacitors in PSUs were dangerous..

My current PSU is very loud too, but if a new fan could safely be put in place, I may consider it.

Hi, yes the inside of the PSU can potentially be dangerous.
My recommendation is to remove the power cord to the PSU and then try to turn on the PC a couple of times to drain any power out of the PSU. You may then like to leave it for a couple hours too to be sure. There is a big “how to drain your PSUâ€
