A question: On what resolution you want to play?

http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Processors ... -DiRT-3-an states that BF3@1280x960@Med tops out at 25-34 FPS, that's not what i'd call 'playable framerates'.

I guess you should look for something like Athlon II X4 750K + dedicated 7790 GPU or similar unless you game @1280x1024 or less.

And i'd suggest digging up some more budget to buy a small SSD. Any PC without one feels so slow and sluggish, gaming does get a nice boost too, reducing load times to near nothing.

Welcome to SPCR.

As Pappnaas stated, game resolution drives fps. So, you could play games with the A10..if you were willing to go down to low resolution and also turn down AA, AF, etc.

What's your budget?

What are the other online games?

There are much quieter cases at the same $100 price point or less. The Fractal Define R4 goes on sale for $80 at Newegg for about a week every month.

You don't mention your monitor resolution, but looking at these games....some might be playable and some won't. $450 is a tough price point to get to - are you including the OS in that or do you need to buy a copy of Windows? You might want to start with 4GB of RAM and then add more if you need it. Here's how $450 breaks down:

a10-6800K $150
mobo $85
4-8GB RAM $50
hdd $70
Seasonic G360 PSU $60
case $40 ( a $40 case....won't be quiet)
os ?
Total $455

cpu cooler $35 (Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo or Silverstone Argon AR1)

Tricky really for a budget build like this, I personally think it's not a bad choice. You could save a bit on a non APU processor, but then you'll have to budget for a graphics card which pushes the cost up again.

On balance I think you've extracted overall your best price performance with that spec.

How about this?

Also, just a thought - you might want to consider getting an FM2+ motherboard - as it will support both the A10-6800K and the upcoming Kaveri parts.

Not familiar with them...I did find this review of seven low cost cases.

FM2+ mobo availability: I don't know what stores/e-tailers you have access to in your country...even in the US, it looks like most of the FM2+ boards are vaporware...maybe waiting to sell down the FM2 stock or waiting for Kaveri to get closer to launch (~ Q1 2014). I only see 5 boards at Newegg and 4 at Amazon....and not enough feedback to say whether they are good or bad. Conclusion: Might be too early to go with FM2+. The downside is if you ever want to upgrade to a FM2+ CPU, you'd have to upgrade the mobo, too.
