This little gem was released in 1967 and remains one of their best:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4eEcJs4nzsg

I strongly suggest you listen to it without knowing who recorded it.
Knowing who did it will ruin your objectivity, which is unfair to the song and to you.
So click the link and then click back to an earlier tab in your browswer while you listen.

That song was not actually sung by the group who took credit, they only lip-synched it. The actual performers were Milli Vanilli.

Thanks for proving my point.

Really -- all three songs at once? ;-)

Radio Paradise is playing Protection by Massive Attack (with Tracey Thorn of Everything But The Girl?).

Judge,

I was working in Manhattan when I accidentally found myself outside of Madison Square Garden when they were doing this tour. I was going to buy a ticket from a scalper, but suddenly they annouced that scalpers had fake tickets that would not be honored. So I chickened out, but my buddy didn't. He saw a great show and I have nothing but regrets for not going.

Not too late? Yes, it is. I have tinnitus now and can't afford to aggrevate it with such loudness. Add to that they no longer play to the same crowd. They are too goody-two-shoes now, though Buckingham still plays guitar likes it's nobody's business.

I have this concert on laserdisc, it's the best copy I could find. In the States back in the 80's it was on HBO and was simulcast over FM radio. That was such a breakthrough in TV sound.

It seems a bit condescending to suggest that people can’t be objective about music although I appreciate that snobbery is unfortunately a part of musical appreciation.
In this case I don’t know why you are being so defensive as The Monkees made many good records which isn’t surprising considering some of the songwriters they used.
The irony is that your preamble set my expectations quiet high which is also not useful. I prefer their more upbeat stuff to this although it has a certain atmosphere.

I bumped into Phil Lynott in a pub in north London and he looked really ill. Caught Lizzy live and they were a great live band.

It was not my intent to be condescending, rather it was the result of over exposure of the likes of people like M0002A, who'se immature response was all but guaranteed, as you well saw. Of course you have to realize that in the US we have more than our fair share of people who fall for crap like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MjRV-UTs9o

So Mr Crow please forgive me for expecting someone of the likes of him to behave like...., well like him.

And now for your viewing pleasure a vintage video of a great song, which hopefully even the likes of M0002A won't be able to screw up. (Not holding my breath mind you.)

Now the version of Fireflies (Owl City) by Rick Southa is in my headphones - the song is amazing in all possible edits, I especially like the lyrics.
