The Congos "Heart of the Congos"

I've said it before and now again, just checking out the music that you guys post here is very informing and enlightening. Even if I ultimately don't prefer it, I have exposed myself to something new (oh, that doesn't sound right, but you get it).

Silence, actually. Just got done listening to a fantastic recording, from 1945, of Zigeunerweisen (composer: Pablo De Sarasate) performed by violinist Isaac Stern when he was in his twenties, followed by a contemporary recording of the Romantic Pieces (Op. 75) by Dvorak, played by siblings, Orli and Gil Shaham (piano and violin, respectively). Both recordings were absolutely wonderful, and nothing could possibly follow them, hence the silence for a while. . . .

Reminds me of an old poster, from the 1970's. It had a photo of a flasher, wearing nothing but a trench coat, in New York, flashing a sculpture on the street, and the caption said: "Expose yourself to art."

Sunday morning here so I don't want to rock out or jass it up. Listening to Arvo Part and the The Theatre of Voices, "I am the True Vine". And I am agnostic. Just like the quiet music this morning.

Trent Reznor, in my head. At the moment it's the synth break from That's What I Get, off Pretty Hate Machine going round on a loop. I'm quite enjoying it - beats the hell out of some nauseatingly catchy pop nonsense doing the same thing.

Anna Russell giving her rightfully famous explaination of Wagner's Ring of the Niebelung. Timeless, and hilarious.
