So...you have everything backed up, right? :wink:

Did you check your drive for errors afterwards or check SMART info?

If you get a message after logging into a user account saying anything about profiles, then your user account is broken...... Or its something else.

Various malwares and viruses can cause this problem, other times it can be caused by faulty hardware or just a windows fuckup that might never happen again.

As a precaution I would suggest backing up all of precious data while you can, and then start checking for hardware faults, starting of course with the HDD.

some viruses also like to hide in the system restore files, you can clean your system only to have system restore reinfect them.


try doing a virus scan in safe mode if you haven't already
