What operating system are you using?

I've yet to meet one that can't turn the comp off or put it in to some 'not on' state via a couple or so mouse clicks.....

XP - start, turn off computer, turn off.

I know it may sound a bit like shear idleness but P180 case is new and we're used to just pressing the off button and walking away ... well it would be nice to be able to do the same.

there must be keyboards with power buttons out there?

You could quite easily make one yourself actually.

Just build in an additional power switch and attach it to your keyboard somehow, although I would place some kind of cap on it when not needed, to make sure you don't accidently hit it while its in use.

Heh, this is actually quite a cool idea, I think I'm going to try and build one of these some time ;)

This is trivially easy, and you don't need any fancy keyboards or messy self-built switches to do it.

1) Right-click on desktop, New > Shortcut

2) In "Location", type "shutdown -s -t 5" (without quotes), Next

3) Type name for shortcut, I find "Shutdown" works well...

4) Right-click on "Shutdown" shortcut, Properties, Shortcut tab

5) In "Shortcut key" dialogue, enter the keystroke combination you want (since you're obviously as lazy as I am, you might want to find one that puts the keys close together, eg "AltGr + /")

6) OK. Job done. :)

More info on the "shutdown" command here.
