Monitor and "darker spot", will it go away?

Post by RaptorZX3 » Mon Oct 12, 2009 8:33 pm

ok lately i noticed a spot on my LCD monitor, on the upper middle of it, it's slightly dark, around just a tiny bit bigger than a pixel, it's not square-ish, but more like round, it's a little darker than usual, it doesn't seem to be visible on some angles.

What could that be? and is it something that might disappear with the time?

it's not a dead/stuck pixel, it doesn't look like one anyway.

This might be too trivial, but could it be just dirt?

Could be a bug ('bug' as in insect).

Difficult / impossible to get rid of.

no it's not a line, it's very tiny, and not totally black, it's just a bit darker, and take just a little bit more than a pixel.

as for the "thunder bug", i have a good APC power surge to filter bad current.

Sounds like a nick or scratch in the screen to me. Do you feel anything if you gently pass your finger over it?

it doesn't look like a scratch...it looks like it's under the first LCD layer.

i think it's a "spot" mura...pretty small, practically invisible when you play games.

mine is like...1mm in size or even smaller, located on the higher-middle of the monitor, a little bit more on the left from the center.

Might be a hole or tear in the backlight sheeting. There are on most CCFL backlit LCDs sheets of white film that diffuse the backlight so it evenly illuminates the LCDs themselves. If there were a hole or a tear in that film it's possible that the light directed at those pixels might be a bit lower in brightness.

I've never heard of it happening, but that doesn't mean it's not possible.

ok, well...if you could suggest me a new 22" monitor, which one would it be?

I don't know if Samsung is still a good brand for LCD monitors...
