I've been using Mozilla Sunbird for years but it's been giving my grief (keeps completely wiping my calendar file!) and has long been out of support.

I loved the idea of Google Calendar and syncing so I can access it on my Android phone but I like to have my desktop calendar full-screen on my second monitor and I couldn't get Google desktop to do this. Plus, it didn't seem to have a basic Windows pop-up box to remind me about events while on my PC

I have been using the calendar with a very "original" name -Desktop Calendar, you can google for it. I am not sure about its sync with Android but it works well with my Windows 7, all functions are performed in a way I like.
