The are the most robust keyboard I have ever seen. They also have an extra set of Function keys on the left side. All of them that I have seen are AT keyboards, so that alone tells you how long they last and how much folks who use them like them.

given keyboards nowadays cost like $10 why is robust necessary?

from what Ive heard the tactile feel of the keyboard is something you have to feel to believe it. I wish I could!!!

Because disposable anything is bad. When you throw something away -- where is away?

They were built like tanks, they weighed quite a bit for a keyboard.
They were the Mercedes of keyboards, so some status was associated with them.
At the time other keyboards were very much on the low quality side.
