I guess the people who're concerned with silent/quiet computers are those

1) who don't blast their speakers all the time.
2) who overclock their PCs with 10 fans or more.

Is it safe to say those who like quiet computers are more of the relaxed, clear-headed type? Maybe that's why people here seem more mature. Sound can do affect people in more ways than you think.

engseng, you forgot the third type of people who get obsessed with quieting their pcs: Those of us who had normal computer noise on a self-built machine and their girlfriend/wife/significant other says, "Can't you make that thing any quieter." Which would also tend to be older people than most tweakers.
