Uncommon Nvidia Quadro fx 500 - Passive cooling?

Post by leprechaun » Sat Feb 07, 2004 3:34 am

Hey guys,

Noob on the line.

My computer is now rather quiet, but the HD whine as well as the vga cooling quite irritating. VGA is high pitched and a cheap solution is available.

The card is a PNY Quadro Fx 500, which is somewhat uncommon to the gaming, tweaking, average joe crowd ... So i lack examples set by others.

The fan is held by a metal bracket that doubles as shitty heatsink.

2 solutions:

get another Zalman northbridge heatsink (and possibly a quiet fan close to it)

or use my old athlon cooler (perhaps cut it a bit). (the stock AMD cooler)

But i have no idea of what kind of cooling is necessary for this card.

Anyone have a clue? advice?

Thanks. Leprechaun
