They make noise, too.

MSI FX5900XT-VTD128 ... quiet?

Post by enovikoff » Tue Mar 09, 2004 11:39 pm

I'm looking at buying this card because of the reviews indicating it's quiet, and of course it's nice and fast to play Halo on! Has anyone on here had experience with it?

Thanks!

I just got one. It didn't add any noticeable noise to my case setup, but my system isn't silent -- a dual athlon MP 2800 is hard to silence; its only comfortably quiet :). I first had a MSI 5700 that had a similar fan/heatsink and the 28dba claim, but its heatsink wasn't secured to the chip well and was noisy due to wobble. The MSI's are nice because the fan speed is consistently quiet whether you're gaming or word processing.

BTW, this card is _fast_... highly recommended!

MSI FX 5900 (non-XT)

I've got one of these in a dual AMD 2400+ MP system. It's very quiet, but not silent. Performance is excellent, however.

I'm considering installing a Zalman ZM80C-HP and a single 120mm side fan to cool the CPUs and the video card all at once. :) We'll see how that goes...
