Zalman ZM17CU and Ti4800se

Post by Anthrax » Thu Mar 25, 2004 11:13 pm

after getting a fan controller and some quiet case fans, i have elliminated the noice from the PSU, and a case fan, and cause of the "silent computing" law, my graphics card has now become the loudest, and most annoying.

i've been looking at some Zalman products for silent gfx card, and i came across the Zalman ZM17CU, although i'm not shure if it will keep my 4800se cool enough to run stable.

i have thought about the Zalman 80C-HP , but my motherboards layout has made it so if i install this, it will not make the card sit properly as my ram sits 1mm next to my card :(

this also aplys to the silent VGA thing.

thanks

Well in case it is helpful for comparison, I've used the ZM17CU on the Ti4600 with no problems. I think that generally the Ti4800 is a Ti4600 with an 8X AGP interface...

al bundy, thx for the reply, i think i might get one then, i have a case fan that is facing the gfx card, so that would help it cool it better :D

I have a ZM17 on an Radeon 9100. It works well, but I think you have to ensure good airflow to the fins, since the Ti4800 should run hotter. A case fan facing the gfx card sounds good enough.

My Ti 4200 gets extremely toasty with the HP80A; both sides are uncomfortable to touch even at the deskop. This is with minimal case airflow, but still, I would be very very nervous about using anything smaller!
