Sapphire 9800 Pro Ultimate or 9800 Pro w/ VGA Silencer

They make noise, too.

Sapphire 9800 Pro Ultimate or 9800 Pro w/ VGA Silencer

Post by faust » Fri Apr 02, 2004 1:23 pm

Hi, this is my first post here and I am in a bit of a fix. I plan to get a new video card soon and can't decide whether or not I should get the Sapphire 9800 Pro Ultimate Edition with the massive Zalman heatsink or a normal ATI 9800 Pro 256 and attach a VGA Silencer to it. A 9800 Pro w/ VGA Silencer would be a little cheaper and from what I've read on this forum, the VGA Silencer is an effective way to cool down and silence a video card. Essentially, is the VGA Silencer or the Zalman heatsink more effective at cooling and silencing a 9800 Pro?

Yep, I'd go with the Silencer as well. I just bought one, and it runs at great temps + low noise on the low level which is all you need except for majorly OCing it.
