9700pro Question...

Post by MonsterMac » Sun Apr 11, 2004 11:08 am

Just wondering what you guys thought, should I go with the VGA Silencer, or the Zalman HPC with the optional fan? I've read that on "low" speed, the VGA silencer acts as a huge radiator because it gets so hot but I haven't heard anything about the Zalman acting as a radiator? Anyone have any comments or suggestions?

I have a 9700Pro at stock speed with the older ZM80A-HP without a fan. Rock solid, no problems at all. I used a probe to measure the core temp and it never went above 68ºC after looping Nature test for 1hour. It idles at around 55ºC. These are safe temps and I'm comfortable with them. This is inside a Lian Li PC65 with no intake fans. And yes, the Zalman also a cts as a big radiator, even more so than the VGA Silencer.

I have R9700Pro with Zalman HP80-C/no fan. Runs fine all the time, except for when i played quake3 for 3-4 hours, my comp crashed, because of the Radeon. I had intake Panaflo@5v, Out Panaflo@5v. The system is quite, quite hot, so dont mind my problem :), i just need to run higher V for fans.
