9600XT Ultimate idea

Post by TheOnlyOne » Tue Apr 13, 2004 5:29 pm

I have the passive 9600XT and am thinking of making a duct to force air out of the back via 2 pci slots. I'm using a BQE with the stock 120mm fan at 12v and there is one pci slot above and of course below. This is my plan right now:

The temps on the 9600XT @ idle is 47C and full load @ 53C. That's warmer than the A64 at full load. I'm noticing no problems with the vid card and have even overclocked it to 544.5/315, but thought maybe this would lower cpu/case temps. I'm not sure what the case temps are because the sensor isn't working. Atleast i don't think the case temps are -48C. :) Would this be worth it, or am i just a little to bored. I also have one more question. Do these rails look ok. I'm thinking of getting a Rev. 3 Seasonic if they fix the fan problem with it. I then can use this psu with an older system.

-48C holy crap! you should use your PC as a refrigerator!

But seriously why not try the VGA Silencer rev 3?

I was thinking of getting a VGA Silencer, but this would be cheaper... Also i think i'm going to wait till summer to see if i really need to duct air to the video card. I had my room temp up to almost 80F and the processor only reached 50C when priming. I think changing the psu for another one with a 120mm would decrease case temps more than the Silencer.
