DFI vs. Abit mobo

Post by tb2496 » Thu Jul 08, 2004 6:10 pm

I'm thinking of getting Abit's NF7-S mobo but NCIX has DFI's Infinity Nforce2 on special right now. Two things I like about Abit's mobo is that "supposedly" its capable of fan speed control and includes serial-to-IDE adapter which I could use.

Is DFI's mobo missing both of these?

Not sure where you read the fan control part, but the only thing it would be missing is the adapter. There isn't much difference between the two, but now that I have the NF7-S, I wish I had the other.

The ATX power socket is in a better location and the NB is already fanless. You also get 4 SATA connectors with the DFI. And if you really dont want to get a new HD, I'm starting to prefer PATA cables over these SATA ones. The adapter just meant I needed more wires near my HD.

Just a few thoughts....

I think the DFI is cheaper too.

Are you saying that NF7-S doesnt have fan speed control?...or that Infinity has it as well.

I have read that NF7-S can be controlled with SpeedFan.

Is there a reason this is in the VGA forum?

Yeah tb2496, what were you thinking :x (lol, I didnt even notice  )

I thought you were saying it had built-in fan control like the aopen boards. I'm pretty sure both can be controlled by speedfan, but neither have it built-in.

All i can say is that i have the NF7 and it's a brilliant mobo, though i think the usb can be a lil flakey at times

Not much between them, so if the dfi is a lot cheaper you mgiht as wel go for it. Spose it all comes down to which colour you prefer.

Well, this is what the forum description says:

"Finally, a forum of its own (sort of): VGAs, motherboards, etc."

Somewhat confusing, I know....

Wow, never noticed that... I guess it means onboard VGA... but yeah, it is confusing.
