Noticed a new press release by NVidia:

Unfortunately no information other than "featuring a new silent cooling system" on the noise front.
Anyone know what it's equivalent to in terms of their consumer / gamer product line?
I've been googling for pictures without success. Most links lead to Quadro 700 Go which is a solution for notebooks. Their product naming leaves much to be desired.
The Quadro is probably going to be priced out of my budget, since it's a workstation card. But I'm just wondering about this "new silent cooling system" and whether it can be adapted for other cards.
I won't be very susprised if it turns out to be a heatpipe with massive heat sinks. After all, marketing is not exactly known for being truthful. Or being knowledgeable, for that matter. But that's topic for another forum

The Quadro4 FX700 just uses a big heatsink:

This raises the question, why can't the equivalent Geforce card, an FX 5900XT, be cooled the same way?

Is it equivalent to the 5900XT? I thought the FX700 was more akin to the 5700 (which is available passively cooled I believe).silencio wrote:The Quadro4 FX700 just uses a big heatsink:
