VGA silencer and Zalman ZM-MFC1 Fan Controller?

Post by Mimesis » Sun Jul 18, 2004 6:14 am

Can I control the fan speed on a VGA silencer with a fan controller?

Cause it looks like the cooler is great, after reading some threads here, but my cooling needs will vary; sometimes I'll run games, sometimes just working in Words. Seems bothersome to crawl behind the computer just for switching speed/turn fan on (from what I've read, it may be able to cool with fan turned off while typing and such).

It looks in the review like its a normal 3-pin fan connector, but I just wanna make sure.

I'll be getting the fan controller either way.

BTW: Good review on the VGA silencer! (As always. :) )

The connector on the VGA Silencer is only 2-pin, but you can easily connect it to Zalman's fan controller. The plus and minus leads on a 3-pin fan header are side by side, so you can carefully put the fan contact on the 3-pin contact leading from the fan controller. That way you don't even have to cut any cables.
