Is the stock ATI fan loud or quiet?

They make noise, too.

Is the stock ATI fan loud or quiet?

Post by mattpwill » Wed Jan 19, 2005 3:39 pm

Would the OC 9800SE 256-bit with stock ATI fan be quiet from stock if put in my system? I have a Nexus NX3500 PSU and undervolted Panaflo L1A CPU fan.

If not, then what would you recommend, bearing in mind that I'm softmodding it to a 9800 pro.

Also, are there any imminent price changes due for the 9800SE cards?

Thanks.

Mine is quite loud, and it is not at a stable speed either, it constantly ramps itself up and down, even though the voltage is staying constant.

I just ordered myself a zalman ZM80D, Im going to see how it does without any fans, and if it needs some help, Ill add on the ZM-OP1

Oh, and good luck with the softmodding, mine unfortunatly has a broken pipe.

I've also spotted a 9700 Pro for £96 inc delivery as well as the 256 bit 9800SE for £102 inc delivery. What would be best value and easiest to cool (assuming the softmod will work!)?

Or should I wait a few months for prices to drop?

I had 9800 SE@Pro as well. Change the stock fan to ZM80D without fan although I had an 120 mm intake fan installed after hdd running at 30% duty cycle - so that help. Results may varied depending on your case airflow.

Have been using it for 9 months now, never have a problem. I tried OC it just to see how far it can goes - doesn't really see any tangible benefit though. So decided to run at stock instead - in fact I run it underclocked in 2d mode most of the time while not gaming.
